The Collegium for Transdisciplinary Studies in Archaeology, Genetics and Linguistics focusses on the study of temporal changes in cultures, people and languages in a long temporal perspective. We focus on the reconstruction of the past in the region of Eastern Baltic. However, to understand the genetics and the developments of languages and cultures, a wider perspective on Boreal forest zone from the beginning of its human occupation has to be established. As we have found out by now, the history in Estonia, as in many other places in the world, has been shaped by different kinds of migrations. Thus, the main goal of the collegium is to explore which cultural processes (incl. migrations) laid foundation to the Baltic Finnic languages and cultures.
